SCHOOL MESSAGES
Our J.F. Cook Campus Principal, Netta, shared information on our continued expansion of on-campus learning this spring at the Cafecito this past Friday, April 30. If you did not have the opportunity to participate, please read the J.F. Cook campus Expansion Updates HERE
We are happy to announce that after completing an extraordinary year, our 5th grade students and their families will have a promotion ceremony that is equally extraordinary!! We have secured space at Audi Field, the home stadium of DC United. Our ceremony will take place on June 16.
Our Calle Ocho Campus Principal, Naomi, shared last week's expansion updates with families by grade level. If you have not read them yet, you can find them here:
FAMILY COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT
We invite all families across both campuses to contribute to the "Teacher & Staff Appreciation Collection" this will allow parents and caregivers to recognize all teachers and staff across both campuses in an equitable manner.
Recognizing the unique circumstances we are all living in, and understanding that not all families may be able to participate, we want to make sure that this Teacher and Staff Appreciation Collection is an option available for those families who would like to contribute this year.
The collection is open from April 25 through May 23. Contributions can be made via the PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=BZTU3KGNVU7JA&source=url or by scanning the QR code.
Stay tuned for more information from your classroom liaisons too. If you have any questions, please contact Classroom Liaison Coordinators:

SUMMER PROGRAM
Sign Ups for Summer Program are closed. We are now processing the interest forms prioritizing at-risk students (citywide definition) and students with disabilities. All other students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis based on the order of forms received.
Thank you to all families who expressed an interest in the summer program!
We are happy to announce that we are securing staffing for the summer program.
We received over 270 forms of family interest, and project we will be able to serve 100 - 190 students depending on staffing. Although we will increase the number of students accepted if we exceed current staffing projections, we will not be able to meet the demand for 270 students.
In the next couple of weeks, families will receive a bill for the program, which completes the final step to be registered in the program.
See a sample schedule below:
Crew
Outdoor play
High dosage tutoring math (Rising 4th-6th grades)
High dosage tutoring Reading (Rising 1st-3rd grades)(English)

All visitors are required to wear a mask.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe!

On Saturday, May 1, the District transitioned to the use of 11 high-capacity, walk-up, no appointment needed vaccination sites.*
The walk-up sites will be in addition to the pharmacies, clinics, and health care providers that are also administering the vaccines citywide. These sites will operate their own scheduling systems.
More information is available at vaccinefinder.org
*Walk-up sites are for first doses. When you receive your first dose, you will still make an appointment to get your second dose.
