MESSAGE

Spring Break Is Here!
From Kristin Scotchmer

Dear Mundo Verde Parents/Caregivers

Warmer weather and Spring Break are here!

You all have been busy and working hard. Whether traveling or staying close to home, I encourage you to take some time to engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Take the opportunity to care for you and your family mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Some of our staff take time during this break to recharge; others use the time to help focus on important work needed to end the year strong or get ahead on planning for summer and fall. For families, my hope is that even if you are not able to pause this coming week, that you have a chance to simply enjoy your child/ren in a different way.

The next eight and a half weeks of school are packed with learning and celebration:

  • Expos showcase student spring expedition work,

  • Coffees provide time for parents to connect with each other and principals,

  • 4th graders camp overnight in Nature Bridge,

  • 5th graders put their Spanish language and sustainability expertise to work with an expedition to Puerto Rico,

  • Parents/caregivers connect with teachers through Student-Led and Parent-Teacher Conferences,

  • A school-wide field day engages students in cooperative and team games, and

  • A promotion ceremony honoring the Class of 2023 - Mundo Verde’s 7th class of 5th graders! as they transition from 5th grade to middle school!

Spring break is also a time to reflect on the year. I am grateful for the work of parents/caregivers, board members, teachers, staff and students, each of whom works hard to make our school community better every day. It is with the commitment of each individual in our community that we improve and continue growing. As we look forward to the new school year, please take a moment to complete the re-enrollment process

In Community,
Kristin Scotchmer

COMMUNICATIONS, INFORMATION & QUESTIONS

NEW! Teacher & Staff Appreciation Collection
April 16 - May 5

Teacher and Staff Appreciation will be celebrated at Mundo Verde during the week of May 1-5! Mundo Verde families have an annual tradition of collecting funds to organize gifts and activities for teachers and staff across the school during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. The collection offers caregivers a centralized fund from which to coordinate school-wide efforts, rather than individual classroom efforts, to ensure equity across campuses. This tradition helps ensure we reach all full-time and part-time classroom and non-classroom-based teachers (art, music, cooking, gardening, PE), along with non-instructional staff members like those covering the front desk, working in the kitchen, managing campus operations, providing support across the network, crews cleaning our school, and many other roles that serve students every day outside the classroom. We recognize that each family has unique circumstances and may not be able to contribute to the fund every year.

For those who can and wish to participate, the collection will be open April 16 through May 5. Non-Tax-Deductible Contribution can be made via this PayPal link or by scanning the QR code.

In addition to the Teacher and Staff Collection Fund, please be on the lookout for information from your Classroom Liaisons about other activities being organized that week!

NEW! Teacher & Staff Appreciation Breakfast and Lunch
Wednesday, May 3

As part of teacher and staff appreciation week, parents and caregivers at each campus are organizing a Potluck to show appreciation to teachers and staff for everything they do for our kids. Please note the potluck at Cook Campus will be for BREAKFAST and the potluck for Calle Ocho will be for LUNCH . Details below:

HEALTH & SAFETY

NEW! Covid Testing Prior to Returning to Campus After Spring Break

Following the SY22-23 Covid Policy (English / Spanish), to ensure the health and safety for all, students and staff must conduct Covid-19 rapid antigen tests prior to returning to campus after Spring Break. Tests for students were sent home on Thursday and Friday.

Parents/caregivers should submit your child’s test results by 5:00pm on Sunday, April 23. Complete the health form below. (These forms are closed now and will be available on April 23).

The student's name and the date the test was completed need to be written on the test itself.

J.F. Cook Campus:

Calle Ocho Campus:

**Testing should be completed no more than 24 hours prior to returning to school**

Individuals who do not submit a Covid test result on time will not be allowed to enter the campus until a Covid test result is submitted and reviewed by the Covid team. A limited amount of Covid tests will be available onsite for parents/caregivers to administer to their children before they enter the building on Monday, Apr. 24. Those Covid test results must be reviewed by a staff member before entry.
