NEW! Earth Day Celebrations

At Mundo Verde, Earth Day is every day and there are so many ways to celebrate!

Sustainability Week - Both Campuses
Apr 8-12

Hop on the Weekly Bicibús!

Wednesdays at JF Cook, Fridays at Calle Ocho
The Mundo Verde Bicibús is about coming together to demand safe streets for all, creating a sense of belonging in our community through greener methods of transportation. All wheels are welcome! The bicibús is one of many ways that Mundo Verde takes action against climate change. Opting for alternative methods of transportation is a small but impactful step that we can take to mitigate climate change and emissions.

  • The JF Cook bicibús meets on Wednesdays at Alethia Tanner Park, departing at 8:10am. From there, we ride to Florida Ave Park to pick up more riders, then we ride to school as a group.

  • The Calle Ocho bicibús meets on Fridays at Turkey Thicket, departing at 8:10am and riding to school as a group.

RiverSmart Garden Build (Calle Ocho)
April 10
Join us on April 10 between 1:30pm and 6:00pm to build a vegetated barrier along Varnum Street using raised garden beds, archways, and blueberry bushes!

Earth Day Celebrations Throughout the School Day
All students in attendance will participate with their grade level peers for fun and learning!

  • Calle Ocho Campus - April 11

    • More information coming soon, including volunteer opportunities for Earth Day celebration on April 11!

    • From Calle Ocho's Comunidad Sustainability Committee: Earth Day is right around the corner, and the sustainability team needs your help! If you are interested in planning Earth Month activities, we welcome your ideas. Our first planning session will be Monday, March 18, from 8:00-8:45pm. Hope to see you there! Join via Zoom (Meeting ID: 821 0938 7081 / Password:  jLc8Tn)

  • JF Cook Campus - Apr 12
We will need volunteers to sign up for shifts to support the students as they move through a variety of activity stations focusing on sustainability and their specific grade level spring expo topic. It was a great event last year, so please block some time out of your schedule that day to help. More information on the grade schedule and a volunteer registration form will be available very soon! Contact Carissa Tirado Marks (ctiradomarks@mundoverdepcs.org) or Meg Newman (megan.newman@gmail.com) if you have questions.
