Interested in learning more about nutrition and wellness, from the comfort of your home? Mundo Verde is partnering with the University of the District of Columbia's Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) to offer our families a free, live online class series. Available in English or Spanish, the series will include 5-7 classes, each from 1-1.5 hours, which will cover topics like making healthy choices, reading food labels, and how to shop on a budget. Adults who complete the class can then waive the cost of Food Manager or Safe Food Handler certification.
Due date to register extended! If you and your children are interested in building healthy habits together, please complete the google signup form in Spanish or English by March 10 to indicate the weekly time slots that work for you. We will be in touch with those who complete the form to confirm the schedule for the class, which will start this spring. Please send any questions to Kiko, our JF Cook Campus Cooking & Gardening teacher, at kbourne@mundoverdepcs.org.
ACADEMICS REMINDERS
Families should have received academic reports for grades PreK-5th last week. If you did not receive it, please email platforms@mundoverdepcs.org.
The second round of MAP assessments will begin on the week of March 15 for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Below you will find the dates for the whole group sessions. Administering the recent MAP testing during remote learning was vastly more challenging than usual – this was especially true for our youngest students in Kinder-2nd grades. As a result and as was communicated earlier this year, we will not be implementing MAP for these grades. Instead, teachers are using classroom assessments to guide instruction and make decisions about personalizing learning.
Specific times will be communicated to students and families as the date approaches.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Mundo Verde Board of Directors will be holding a Board Regular Meeting this week on Thursday, March 11. The agenda includes a report from the executive director, discussion of our continued opening, and reports from each committee. Webinar links and phone numbers forthcoming. For questions related to the meeting or to rsvp for attending please email board@mundoverdepcs.org
