Es con gran orgullo y alegría que Mundo Verde anuncia la aprobación condicional para su expansión en 2019-2020. El Consejo de Escuelas Públicas de DC (PCSB) votó en favor de la expanción de nuestro programa de escuela primaria en un nuevo campus escolar ubicado en 4401 8th Street, NE. (Ward 5) con un eventual cuerpo estudiantil de 600 estudiantes PreK-3 - 5° grado.

La aprobación de PCSB para Mundo Verde para lanzar un segundo campus escolar está condicionada a la acreditación antes de su apertura para las operaciones en el año escolar 2019-2020. Este paso adelante solo es posible gracias a la calidad del trabajo que toda nuestra comunidad escolar nos proporciona. El equipo de liderazgo de Mundo Verde y su junta directiva esperan trabajar con nuestro personal, familias y comunidad para asegurar un plan para la mejora continua de nuestras operaciones y resultados y una transición suave a esta nueva fase de desarrollo. Como siempre, este trabajo está guiado por nuestra misión de fomentar altos niveles de logro académico entre un grupo diverso de alumnos preparándolos para ser exitosos y compasivos administradores globales de sus comunidades.

It is with great pride and joy that Mundo Verde announces the conditional approval for its expansion in 2019-2020. The DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) voted in favor of the replication our elementary school program at a new campus located at 4401 8th Street, NE. (Ward 5) with an eventual student body of 600 students PreK-3 - 5th grade.

The PCSB approval for Mundo Verde to launch a second campus is conditioned on our accreditation prior to opening for operations in the 2019-2020 school year. To understand the criteria for this decision, and some of the context leading up to it, we encourage you to view the hearing click here.

This leap forward is only possible because of the quality of our school community's work and collective commitment to our students and families. Mundo Verde leadership team and board of directors look forward to working with our staff, as well as with our families and community, to ensure a plan for continued improvement of our operations and results and a smooth transition into this new phase of development. As always, this work is guided by our mission to foster high levels of academic achievement among a diverse group of students by preparing them to be successful and compassionate global stewards of their communities.

Mundo Verde hosted hosted Superintendent Hanseul Kang on Strawberries & Salad Greens Day for a student-led garden tour and classrooms discussions around cooking and gardening skills and food nutrition.

Mundo Verde awarded AIA 2016 Education Facility Design Award

Mundo Verde’s school building was awarded the 2016 Education Facility Design Award, presented by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE). Mundo Verde is one of twelve campuses in the nation that the committee selected as “examples of a superb place in which to learn, while demonstrating excellence in architectural design.” Special thanks to Studio Twenty Seven Architecture for their innovative work!
