What is the Gala?

The Gala is an evening of music, dancing and auction, as well as tasty food and drinks that will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 7:00-10:00pm at Dock 5 at Union Market. It is a celebration of our six years growing our fabulous school and will bring together our vibrant community –families, staff and supporters– to raise critical funds for the development of Mundo Verde’s commercial grade demonstration kitchen, a key piece to fully implementing Mundo Verde’s ambitious food education programing and healthy school meals prepared on-site.

Where will the money go?

Proceeds from the Gala will be used to build a commercial­-grade demonstration kitchen where an in-house professional chef can prepare healthy meals every day for our students. See kitchen plans here.

How can we help?

We need your help in a few ways! First, come to the Gala (either buy individual tickets or consider joining with a Teacher Booster Sponsorship or Event Booster Sponsorship). Second, please consider contributing to our auction by helping secure items and donating your own. What are the details about tickets?

Tickets will be sold online and at the front desk of the school. Early-bird tickets (purchased on or before April 14) are $60, tickets purchased April 15 or later are $75. Tickets purchased at the door are $100. Tickets cover heavy appetizers, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and entertainment. VIP early-bird tickets are $80 and are $100 as of April 15. VIP tickets include early entry and a "Mundo Verde" embossed mug for the Gala's signature drink. (VIP tickets NOT available at the door.)

Why should my family consider a sponsorship when we can just buy tickets?

While many families will choose to get tickets for the event, sponsorships may make sense to families who want to have a deeper impact by ensuring more funds go directly to the cause, in this case the development of the Mundo Verde kitchen. Moreover, sponsorships help subsidize complimentary and discounted tickets for teachers and families to ultimately ensure that the gala is every bit as welcoming and inclusive as our school community.

How will the auction work?

The auction will include a range of items, from sports tickets to yoga classes, from delicious dinners cooked up by Mundo Verde families to weekends at vacation homes (see examples here) . The items will be organized into an online bidding tool that will be be shared a week or so ahead of the Gala. Some items will be up for bidding online before the Gala and will remain open for bid until a week or so after the Gala, others will be bid on at the event through a silent auction.

How can Sponsoring the Mundo Verde Gala benefit my business?

Having a presence at an event like the Mundo Verde Gala positions you and your business as a community investor and leader. Sponsorship can bring Gala attendees who are eager to find out about your business directly to you and develop brand recognition. As a sponsor, you or your company will be featured in the program book, on the event’s website with your logo, and reach over 400 attendees. Sign up as a sponsor with this form.

What's the raffle all about?

You can buy tickets to the raffle on the same site as event tickets event tickets. They cost $5 per ticket. A ticket enters you to win a brand-new Edgerunner Xtracycle, 24 speed derailleur in white. Buy a ticket (or 20!) and take a chance to join MV's ever-growing cargo biking family! You need not be present to win. We thank Xtracycle for the generous donation and Bicycle Space for putting the bike together.
